About this role

Suspense thrives on uncertainty, a calculated pause that draws in the observer. In this pause, placeholders emerge as valuable cues. Their very presence suggests that what is yet unseen could hold the answers, a revelation or a solution. When used thoughtfully, a placeholder can tease and compel, engaging the imagination.

Responsibilities

In websites, a loading spinner is no different than the ellipsis of a suspenseful plot twist; it tells the viewer that what is coming is worth waiting for. Key benefits of effective placeholders include:

  • Maintaining engagement: By signaling more to come, placeholders prevent user drop-off.
  • Setting expectations: Clear, well-placed placeholders hint at what content is coming next, adding structure.
  • Building suspense: The anticipation of more content holds attention, just as in storytelling.

Placeholder content, however, must tread a careful line. Too sparse, and it risks undermining its own suspense; too dense, and it overwhelms with unnecessary clutter. The balance lies in leaving just enough room for the mind to wander and fill the gaps.

About the role

As Compliance Associate, you'll join Zendable's US Compliance department in a role that supports two primary functions: supporting Legal & Compliance (L&C) leadership on cross-functional projects, and partnering with the Compliance Management System (CMS) team on program oversight. You’ll be primarily responsible for project managing strategic initiatives for L&C leadership and supporting the day-to-day rigor of the CMS — policies and procedures, training, monitoring and testing, complaints and issues management, and audits.

This is a role for someone who moves fast, thinks in systems, and is comfortable being the person who keeps a dozen moving pieces on track without losing sight of the regulatory details that matter. You'll bring an AI-first mentality to how you work, looking for ways to use tools and automation to move faster and surface insights that a manual process would miss.

You'll work closely with the CMS team as well as stakeholders across Legal, Risk, Product, and Zendable's bank partners.

Your objectives in this role

  • Deliver a well-organized, well-documented portfolio of L&C projects that move at the pace the business needs

  • Help maintain a CMS that meets regulatory expectations and stands up to bank partner and examiner scrutiny

  • Support audits and exams with organized, audit-ready evidence and responsive project management

  • Bring an AI-first mindset that uses automation as a first instinct, not an afterthought

How you'll impact those objectives

  • Own project plans, timelines, and status tracking for L&C leadership's strategic initiatives

  • Translate ambiguous or evolving priorities into clear workstreams, owners, and deadlines

  • Prepare leadership-ready updates, briefing materials, and meeting agendas

  • Identify bottlenecks before they become blockers and drive a sense of urgency across stakeholders

  • Compliance Program Support

    • Support the maintenance and periodic review of policies and procedures and compliance training, ensuring they reflect current regulatory requirements and business practices

    • Assist in executing the monitoring and testing calendar, documenting findings, and tracking remediation to closure

    • Support complaints and issues management, analyzing data to spot trends and recurring root causes

    • Prepare documentation and coordinate logistics for internal and external audits and exams

  • Use AI tools to accelerate document review, data analysis, and reporting wherever it creates a genuine efficiency gain

What you need to succeed in this role

  • Experience in a compliance, risk, or regulatory project/program management role within a fintech/bank partnership environment

  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence for compliance program tracking and documentation

  • Familiarity with bank partnership management, including working across compliance requirements set by partner banks

  • Solid knowledge of US financial services regulations (e.g., UDAAP, TILA, ECOA, FCRA, BSA/AML, GLBA, as applicable to the business)

  • Sharp analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret data and spot patterns

  • A genuine sense of urgency and a bias toward action

  • An AI-first mentality — comfortable evaluating and adopting AI tools to work smarter and faster

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work across leadership, subject-matter experts, and external partners

Interview process

  • Screening stage: 30 minute Interview with the Talent Partner + 15 minute online Cognitive Assessment

  • 45 minute Hiring manager Interview: Head of US Cards Compliance (Mai)

  • Interviews with Legal and Compliance Team

    • 30 minute: Compliance Control Manager (Victoria)

    • 30 minute: Deputy General Counsel (John)

  • 30 minute: Final stage interview with US General Counsel

So far, we’ve rebuilt the big three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days. We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do. We’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Life at Lendable

Two people with laptops on their lap sat either side of a black labrador on a sofa in front of a window. The dog is a very good girl.
