You'll join a small but ambitious Legal team with a broad remit, working with every part of the business — from Product and Engineering to Credit Risk, Marketing and People. Lendable is an FCA-regulated lender operating in the UK, US and Mexico, so you'll get early exposure to regulated products and new markets. As Lendable grows, this role is focused on commercial contracts, product and corporate work. You'll own matters end to end, explain legal issues clearly to non-lawyers, and weigh the legal position against what the business is trying to achieve.
What you'll be doing
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements. You'll lead on supplier and customer contracts, engagement letters and NDAs, and support on partnership and other strategic contracts as you build towards leading them
Manage our contract review process, including triaging incoming requests, providing templates and reviews, and managing the e-signature process (for example DocuSign) through to completion
Respond to day-to-day legal queries from the business and our counterparties
Drive process and knowledge management by building and maintaining document repositories, administering our contract management and AI tooling and helping us develop processes to support contract review and negotiation
Support on intellectual property matters and litigious matters as they arise
Take on company secretarial and governance work
Support corporate and transactional work, including KYC / due diligence requests and diligence reviews on corporate projects
Work closely with the rest of the Legal team to deliver timely, first-class legal support
How you’ll make an impact
You'll help drive the business forward by taking the initiative and embracing work beyond your comfort zone
You'll get to grips with new markets and financial products, bringing energy and curiosity to each new challenge
What we're looking for
NQ - 2PQE, qualified in England & Wales, or in another common law jurisdiction with relevant UK experience
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including explaining legal issues to non-lawyers
Strong organisation: you can run multiple matters at once and prioritise them independently
Comfortable with pace and change, and keen to take ownership of a broad remit rather than a narrow specialism
