Reporting to the Financial Crime Risk Assurance Lead within the Risk Team, you will play a critical role in providing independent oversight of the investigations conducted by the Financial Crime Operations Team. You will identify any trends or emerging concerns found within the quality assessments you complete, clearly articulating and presenting your findings.
This role requires an ability to learn quickly and to adapt to a fast-paced environment where financial crime risks are constantly evolving.
This role can be based out of our Chatham or London office.
Your team’s objectives
The objective of the second line Financial Crime Function is to provide independent oversight, guidance, and challenge to ensure that the firm effectively manages financial crime risks, such as money laundering and terrorist financing. Its primary role is to ensure that appropriate risk management processes are in place and functioning as intended, while also ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The team maintains strong working relationships across almost all areas of the firm and collaborates effectively to achieve its goals. Our positive relationship with the first line Financial Crime Team is of the utmost importance for the culture of our function.
What you’ll be doing
Monitoring the first line Financial Crime Team’s performance, providing clear and detailed feedback in an easily digestible and actionable way
Reviewing cases from a range of different workstreams such as; PEPs & Sanctions screening, Transaction Monitoring, Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Ongoing Monitoring of High-Risk customers
Identifying, analysing, and documenting issues and highlighting possible resolutions
Taking ownership of your workload and ensuring that reviews are performed in a timely manner to provide valuable feedback before any further errors are made
Assist in maintaining and enhancing Financial Crime QA procedures, ensuring continuous quality improvement and alignment with regulatory standards
Conduct control testing on third party tools such as AI solutions to ensure they are working within intent of the firm
Presenting data in a consumable format to colleagues of all levels.
What we’re looking for
2+ years of experience in a Financial Crime role (preferably in financial services/fintech)
Previous QA experience is desirable but not essential
You are able to work well as part of a team; decisive, goal-oriented, proactive
You have experience in task/process-based evaluation
You are organised and with exceptional attention to detail
Compliance experience ensuring company policies & procedures adhere to regulatory frameworks, e.g. FCA guidelines, JMLSG, Money Laundering Regulations (desired but not essential).
