About this role

Suspense thrives on uncertainty, a calculated pause that draws in the observer. In this pause, placeholders emerge as valuable cues. Their very presence suggests that what is yet unseen could hold the answers, a revelation or a solution. When used thoughtfully, a placeholder can tease and compel, engaging the imagination.

Responsibilities

In websites, a loading spinner is no different than the ellipsis of a suspenseful plot twist; it tells the viewer that what is coming is worth waiting for. Key benefits of effective placeholders include:

  • Maintaining engagement: By signaling more to come, placeholders prevent user drop-off.
  • Setting expectations: Clear, well-placed placeholders hint at what content is coming next, adding structure.
  • Building suspense: The anticipation of more content holds attention, just as in storytelling.

Placeholder content, however, must tread a careful line. Too sparse, and it risks undermining its own suspense; too dense, and it overwhelms with unnecessary clutter. The balance lies in leaving just enough room for the mind to wander and fill the gaps.

Senior Product Manager

  • Virginia
  • Full Time (Permanent)

  • Cards US Product
Apply for this role

About the role

We’re looking for a curious and data-driven Sr. Product Manager to join our US team. You will be based in Washington DC area. In this role, you’ll own customer acquisition and growth for our credit card product in the US, directly contributing to Lendable’s long-term strategic trajectory. You’ll join us as we prove out the book, then take it into its next phase of growth.

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious, and fast-paced team of data-driven problem solvers. This role is best suited for someone who is analytical & iterative and solves problems from first principles. You will report directly to our CPO and partner with our US Cards Managing Director.

The role centres on originations and growth, and will cover:

  • Acquiring customers efficiently across direct mail, paid, aggregator and affiliate channels, building out new channels, and optimizing conversion funnels

  • Shaping the mobile app experience to drive activation, spend, and engagement

  • Owning the end-to-end origination journey, from first touch to an approved and activated account, including one-click and open-banking-enabled applications and new product offerings

  • Building new credit products such as cash back and rewards cards

  • Owning key partner integrations like those for our network, affiliate marketplace channels, and transaction & payment processing vendors

  • Improving our underwriting and fraud prevention capabilities to increase approvals without compromising credit quality

  • Owning channel economics: CAC, payback and unit economics by channel and cohort, and knowing where the next dollar of spend should go

  • Using AI to build, test and analyse faster than a team our size otherwise could

Your Impact

  • Drive the Product Vision & Roadmap
Own the strategy and roadmap for our US card product: first to market parity then past it for our current and expanding target segment through customer understanding and experimentation. Getting there means bringing Credit, Growth, Design, Data Science and Compliance with you developing your leadership and influencing skills.

  • Execute Hands-On
You are a hands-on builder who finds the highest-leverage problems and solves them. You write & resolve tickets, prototype, and own implementation and design decisions rather than handing them off. AI tools are a genuine force multiplier here, and we expect you to use them to build the scrappiest thing that answers the question instead of waiting for engineering capacity. The accountability stays with you: you don't ship what you can't sense-check.

  • Drive Data-Backed Decisions
AI has collapsed the cost of analysing data, so the differentiator is intuition and curiosity: a feel for what the numbers should look like, the instinct to notice when something is off, and the persistence to find the real driver. You never take a confident answer at face value, from a dashboard or a model. You let AI do the assembly so the team spends its time deciding, and you champion experimentation.

  • Outcome Focus
You set clear, measurable goals and judge your work by whether the numbers moved, not by what shipped. You make tough calls under ambiguity, own them, and course correct when the evidence turns. You are happy to change your mind when presented with a good argument, and you expect the same of everyone else.

Your experience

  • 4+ years of Product Management experience

  • 2+ years of experience in consumer lending, ideally credit cards

  • Experience at a startup or owning a high-growth product in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong technical fluency, enough to work confidently across decision engines, APIs, and data flows, plus a builder’s instinct: you already use AI tools daily to prototype, analyse and ship, and you can show us how

  • Ability to combine data, customer understanding, and market signals to drive prioritization and product innovation

  • Strong numerical intuition: a feel for what good and bad look like in a funnel, a cohort, or a P&L, and a habit of investigating anomalies rather than explaining them away. You should be comfortable getting to data yourself with AI, so deep SQL expertise is not required

  • Demonstrated ability to focus on the broader objectives without getting lost in the details

Interview process

  • A quick introduction call with someone from the team

  • A case interview with a member of our Product team, focused on growth and originations, including a set of real numbers to interrogate

  • Final round interviews with our CPO, Cards MD, and product and engineering team members

About Lendable

A large group of around 50 people, and one dog, in an office facing the camera and smiling

Lendable is on a mission to build the world's best technology to help people get credit and save money.

  • Founded in 2014

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Unicorn in 2021

  • Backed by Balderton, Goldman Sachs and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

  • Loved by customers & employees with top reviews on Glassdoor and Trustpilot

So far, we’ve rebuilt the big three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days. We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do. We’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Life at Lendable

Two people with laptops on their lap sat either side of a black labrador on a sofa in front of a window. The dog is a very good girl.
  • The opportunity to scale up one of the world’s most successful fintech companies.

  • Best-in-class compensation including equity.

  • You can work from home every Monday and Friday if you wish - on the other days, we all come together IRL to be together, build and exchange ideas.

  • 401k plan and medical insurance (optical + dental covered)
